A mid winter treat – should have been a spring treat!
“We booked the room as a little spring treat treat as my husband doesn’t know the area well and is also a bit of a racing fan. The Plough was very friendly and welcoming and I couldn’t fault the staff/service. The day was bitterly cold which meant the room was a little chilly but there was an extra heater in the wardrobe which did the trick. The weather (weekend of snow) unfortunately made us want to hole up in the bar with the papers rather than go exploring but that was fine as the pub was lovely with roaring wood burners.
Dinner was great – portions on the large side but as it was freezing, good hearty food was what was needed. The room was spotlessly clean but smallish which didn’t matter but as the weather was so bad we spent more time in it than we had ideally hoped. We want to come back when the weather perks up as the Plough is perfectly placed to see lots of things in the Cotswolds. One tip – don’t use the AA routemaster to find the Plough – it isn’t that accurate – and book early as the small but perfectly formed accommodation gets booked quickly.”
“Our Christmas meal at the Plough Inn was magical. The pub is warm and welcoming in every sense. The staff are pleasant and attentive. The table looked amazing, as did the pub itself. The Christmas atmosphere is so lovely.
The food was the best we have EVER had. Be prepared for large portions! Beautifully cooked and presented, the three course Christmas menu was awesome and incredible value for the price. We would recommend to anyone. Our advice would be to not eat breakfast if you are going for lunch. We didn’t eat until the next day as we were so full.
We will be back again for Christmas 2018”
“Stumbled across this place on way back to Tewksbury. Although fully booked they managed to give us an hour at a table and could not have been more welcoming. All four of us had a great meal – the fish dish of the day was Hake wrapped in salmon – it was absolutely fabulous!!! GO THERE – but book first.”
“Fantastic food (big portions) with a good choice of locally sourced ingredients. Adequate parking, but get there early. Excellent service; booking essential.”
Food glorious food!
“I have eaten here 3 times and have only ever encountered culinary delights! Most recently at Xmas I had slow cooked beef…it was amazing! I raved about it so much to the other half…I made him bring me back to dine for Valentines night. I had the venison, whilst my other half had slow cooked pork…both of our meals were just delicious, you again…didn’t disappoint..and only validated my high praise!
So we are coming back for more tomorrow evening! Its his birthday…and he wanted to come back! :-)”
“On arrival, we had a warm welcome from all staff and locals drinking. A good selection of food on both menus at a good price. Busy place thankfully we had booked the night before which I would advise people to do. The food was very good, excellent atmosphere throughout the whole place in the bar and restaurant. We will defiantly come back here and recommend this place to others.”
Brilliant! lovely cosy pub with great beers and food
“My wife and I stumbled across this pub whilst driving through the area. It was a Sunday at around 4pm. It said food served all day which I was dubious about because at some pubs that means you get some microwaved pre-cooked food but this is not the case here. I had the roast beef which came with lashings of delicious gravy and with lovely Yorkshire puddings and tasty vegetables. My wife had the fish pie which she really enjoyed. The service was great, the girl who served us had a good knowledge of the real ales and was able to recommend one for me. This is a great pub, would not hesitate to come back again”
An unspoilt English Inn
“It was Sunday when we passed the pub, decided to give it a try, what a good move! the bar was buzzing with good humoured locals and Sunday lunch was as good as it can get. We stayed over and our room was immaculate with a choice of different teas, coffees or hot chocolate. Breakfast was also first class with an almost unlimited selection, lovely pub great staff a real find will stay again.”
“My boyfriend and I visited The Plough one summer’s afternoon after it was recommended for great food and we were not left disappointed. I opted for the homemade fish pie which was really tasty with plenty of fish and flavour. My partner had the beef roast which he also really enjoyed. Lovely little beer garden and the pub is full of character and probably local characters!!”
“Fantastic end to a lovely day out in the Cotswold’s.
Our third time visiting the Plough and the quality of the food is still of the same high standard.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly.
We will be back very soon”
“Fabulous lunch today with several members of our family. The food was delicious and the staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a really happy time. The other party in the dining room were really good fun too and the atmosphere was buzzing. Will definitely be back”
“Have been there a few times and the food is always very very good. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. Great place for lunch or dinner. Try it!”
“The picturesque 16th-century Cotswold inn, once the local courthouse but now patronised by those who judge horseflesh, follows the maxim that “all men are equal on and under the turf”. If you like the nags, you’ll like The Plough. It is both silver ring and members’ enclosure. Victuals are accessible to all tastes and drinks are easily got. There are connections with gossip and a bookie to pass it on to. A gallery of jump-racing’s greatest heroes, from Desert Orchid to the Queen Mum, hangs on its stone walls.”

I would like to say what a fab pub you have and when our friends came from Brighton to Wales on a cycle tour ( they cycle the country visiting pubs ) they remarked that the Plough had the best venue , beer, food and lovely warm welcoming staff in Britain ! Thanks
